After ten years of servicing information technology systems for business and government, Guy Hinkler founded V2 Systems in April of 1995. The company began with two employees, working out of the basement of Mr. Hinkler’s farmhouse in Prince William County and focused on small businesses. With advice and direction from the Flory Small Business Development Center, V2 experienced substantial growth. Within six months, the company relocated to commercial space in Manassas and continued to grow by winning larger commercial clients and the IT maintenance contract from the City of Manassas.
The next expansion was brought on by a dramatic increase in business due to the threat of the Y2K bug. V2 was positioned as an expert on the subject and gained many clients by providing practical solutions to the problem. V2 also recognized the shift in market share and began to transition itself from a Novell shop to a Microsoft authorized solutions provider.
Growth continued until the events of September 11, 2001 caused a substantial decrease in new business. The company made several adjustments to offset the challenges and the result was a more efficient operation. V2 also gained greater loyalty from its customer base by seeing them through hard times.
In April of 2002 Mr. Hinkler gained two equal partners, Erik Briceño and Chris Waskowich. Mr. Briceño’s expertise in finance and operations and Mr. Waskowich’s exceptional technical ability would complement Mr. Hinkler’s marketing and sales talents. That, combined with the personal network Hinkler had built through participation in business organizations and community service, has resulted in much success for V2 Systems. Since the partnership was formed, the company has doubled its revenues every year and has increased its capabilities by adding Cisco, Apple, E-business solutions, and database services to its competencies.
Currently, V2 Systems employs nine full-time people, six of whom are engineers, and operates from its headquarters in Manassas Park and a sales office in Tyson’s Corner. V2 also relies on several subcontractors and teaming partners to fulfill a broad scope of client’s requirements. The future of V2 Systems is seen as one of continued growth with an expectation of doubling revenues and number of employees in 2006. V2 emphasizes the development of innovative, practical information technology solutions that meet the needs and exceed the expectations of their clients so they may concentrate on their vision and mission.
